Cocooned in a polished concrete chrysalis, the larvae awaits for its time to emerge! My chrysalis is almost ready to come forth into the world and reveal the glorious butterfly that lies within.
This polished concrete fusion of stone, glass and mirror is the partner to Papillon II. I used the same base curve to create this pair. I had originally planned to have them facing each other, placed upon mirror, but have since decided that I like them as stand alone pieces.
A custom concrete was used to create the original form. Coloured segments and glass were inlaid and ground and polished back to create the final piece. Slivers of glass can be seen through as you move around this piece.
Concrete, glass, mother of pearl, mirror and enamel brushwork adorn the Chrysalis!
