Ursula’s reminisces of trudging through the snow across the German border to school each day as a small child captured my imagination. To think that the glamorous Ursula I know on the Gold Coast was brought up in a strange land of snow and ice. This whimsical piece uses a shaped layer of glass with sandblasted detail to depict Ursula as an adult keeping a watchful eye over her younger self as she makes her way across the expanse of snow. This piece now keeps good company hanging in Ursula’s home.
Two separate sheets of glass and mirror were cut and shaped to create a layered effect. Sections were sandblasted and acrylic ink with enamel linework was layered over them.
