The world is becoming a little grim at the moment. As Australia turns into a living tinderbox this summer and our government and influencers vigorously deny any responsibility, it’s hard not to feel a sense of foreboding. 2019 was the year the lunatics escaped the asylum and the noose of insanity tightened around our necks. What will 2020 bring? Not to make light of the seriousness of the situation – the terrifying resurgence of  measles, decades of scientific research being cast aside by climate change deniers in our government, sexual predators in powerful places, narcissistic global leaders bickering, and Arts ceasing to officially exist in Australia, it’s hard to keep one’s sense of humour.

Fortunately I unearthed two lovely pieces of polished concrete to sabotage and make a light hearted comment on a serious matter. See No Evil and Speak No Evil. So long as we keep our heads in the ground and refuse to see or speak of what surrounds us, we will remain in this perpetual downward spiral. The time for silence is drawing to a close. I shall feel obliged to start taking myself seriously soon. Not just yet however.  One last colourful and playful frolic.

Polished concrete with acrylic and enamel details.
26cm x 32cm, baton across back and ready to hang.
