I have discovered over the past decade that the art of unravelling is a delicate and subtle process. It gently creeps up on you while you look the other way.
At first you might notice being a little (more) absent minded. Your relationship with sleep slides downhill. You surprise yourself by crying while looking at photos of strangers. You stop caring whether you've accidentally put your shirt on inside out, and you find yourself being oddly honest and upfront with strangers... Most alarming of all - you wake up one morning and realise you don't mind watering plants...
What on earth is happening? You check with your doc and ascertain it's not dementia (yet), and it finally sinks in that your pesky hormones have started to leave the building.
Road rage and hot flashes become a regular part of your life and you realise that you have entered the next tier of womanhood. You are officially a raging menopausal powerhouse of attitude. You may feel a little wobbly, a little older, and a little more physically fragile... but fortunately, you now have experience, determination and a remarkable sense of fortitude to propel you through this new era.
